Product Description
Atlantic Sailfish:
Istiophorus platypterus
A type of billfish with a sharply pointed upper jaw bone and sail-like dorsal fin giving the species it’s name. Sports a forked tailfin and is known as “The Ballerina of the Sea” for it’s aerial displays. Simply a beautiful trophy fish with a dark blue back, brownish-blue sides, fading to a silvery-white belly.
They typically hang out towards the top end of the water column chasing schooling fish. An average life span of 5 years in the wild with females generally grow larger than the males. They like the Keys and other areas throughout the Caribbean for the warm waters year round.
